The Omniverse Automatic Patcher is a feature designed to quickly apply important fixes between full theme updates. It helps keep your website secure, stable, and up to date without needing to reinstall the entire theme.
When a critical issue is reported, we may release a patch immediately rather than waiting for the next full theme update. These patches include only the specific files that require fixing, not the complete theme package.
When you later update Omniverse to a new full version, any previously applied patches will automatically be included in the update and replaced by the updated theme files.
Patcher Interface #
You can access available patches directly from your WordPress dashboard:
Dashboard → Omniverse → Patcher
Key points:
- Not all patches are mandatory.
- Apply only patches relevant to your website.
- Some issues may not affect your site, so those patches can be safely ignored.
This ensures flexibility while maintaining website stability.
Patches vs Full Updates #
Instead of releasing a full theme update for every minor issue, Omniverse uses a patch system to provide faster and more efficient fixes.
Reasons for using patches:
- Some bugs are minor and affect only a small number of websites.
- Frequent full updates can be unnecessary for most users.
- Patches allow targeted fixes without requiring a complete update.
These patches are eventually included in the next full theme release and removed from the patch list.
However, if a major issue affects many users, a full theme update is released immediately.
