It allows you to create highly targeted popups for specific pages or situations, going beyond simple sitewide messages. Quick Steps to Create a Custom Popup #
- Go to Dashboard → Popups.
- Click the Add New button.
- Select a predefined popup category (optional) and enter the Popup Name.
- Click Create Popup.
- Build your popup using sections and special elements in your page builder.
- Configure triggers and conditions to control where and when the popup appears.
Popup Editor in Different Page Builders #
Omniverse supports Gutenberg, Elementor, and WPBakery, each with slightly different locations for popup settings:
Gutenberg:
- Popup settings are located on the right side of the top editor bar, next to the Save button. Click the gear icon to open the popup settings sidebar.
- If the gear icon is missing, click the three vertical dots → Popup Settings → ensure the star icon is active to enable the settings panel.
Elementor:
- Popup settings are in the same location as regular page settings. Click the gear icon in the top panel to access settings in the left sidebar.
WPBakery:
- Popup settings appear below the content editor, in the page metabox area. Configuration is similar to slider settings.
Default Popup Behavior #
When created, a popup in Omniverse has the following defaults:
- Width: 800px
- Background: White
- Position: Center of the screen
- Animation: Slide in from left to right
- Trigger: Page loaded (0-second delay)
- Closing Options:
- Close button
- Click background overlay
- Press Escape key
- Persistent Close enabled (prevents reappearance until cookies are cleared)
Popup Settings Overview #
Omniverse offers comprehensive settings grouped into categories:
1. Layout
- Width, height, and vertical/horizontal positioning.
- Option to stretch popup to screen edges (useful for sidebars or bars).
- If height is fixed, you can set content vertical alignment.
2. Styles
- Customize background, border, border-radius, shadow, paddings, and margins.
- Padding = spacing between popup edge and content.
- Margin = spacing between popup edge and screen edge.
3. Animation
- Controls how the popup appears (default: slide left-to-right).
4. Close Behavior
- Configure close button design, overlay click, Escape key, or closing via a CSS selector.
- Persistent Close: Determines if popup reappears after manual closure.
5. Overlay
- Set overlay color with optional transparency to allow site content visibility.
6. Responsive
- Control visibility on desktop, tablet, or mobile devices.
7. Scroll
- Choose whether background content scrolls while popup is open (default: disabled).
- Useful for off-canvas sidebar effects.
8. Triggers
- Define popup display events:
- Time on page
- Number of clicks
- Click on a specific element
- Scroll to a page section
- Each trigger has a Trigger Once option and uses cookies with a 7-day expiration.
9. Conditions
- Control where popups appear: single page, multiple pages, or category-specific.
- Use Include and Exclude rules to refine popup visibility.
Configuring a Popup After It’s Closed #
If a popup is not showing because it was previously closed:
- Temporarily disable Persistent Close in the popup settings.
- Ensure Trigger Once is disabled for active triggers.
- After editing, revert these options to their original settings.
Alternative ways to preview a closed popup:
- Open the site in Incognito/Private mode
- Use a different browser
- Clear cookies for the site
